A while ago I sold off my large oscilloscope because I just don't have the room for tools that large that I use maybe once a year for troubleshooting. But I have been on the lookout for a smaller oscilloscope and ran across a tiny oscilloscope called the xprotolab that can be bought in DIY kit form here:

It can interface with free open source software on a computer for a larger display than the tiny built-in screen.
I happen to be getting ready to build some DIY U47 microphones that need an oscilloscope to properly bias the JFET, so it gave me the excuse to buy one of these kits and build one. The voltage range it can handle is perfect for the microphone build.

It was tons of fun and challenging to hand-solder surface-mount components, but I got it done on the first try. It blows me away how tiny this thing is. Those of you who like to build amps and pedals might like building this kit.
Actually, I would recommend the larger xminilab kit instead, since the xprotolab is very, very small and hard to see. However, it is not in stock as of this writing:
