  • Simple screen grid resistor voltage question

Can someone confirm or de-confirm this for me.

i recently bought some screen grid resistors but when they arrived in the mail it made me think I bought the wrong ones by accident. They are 7W but only 200V rated. After thinking for another second I tthough, the screen voltage is 500V+ but this is still fine because the maximum voltage drop OVER the screen grid resistor will be something like 50-60V max. So these are fine. Is this correct?

Made me wonder about voltage ratings of chokes too, since I was recently researching 600V chokes. but the voltage drop over the choke must be 100V maximum or something, at full volume. So is it unnecessary to get a 600V choke even if your supply voltage is nearly that?

You need the high voltage rating because 600V is the coil to frame rating and the coil will be at B+ voltage with the frame grounded to chassis.

A 200V resistor should be ok if the peak voltage across it is below that; maybe easiest to check that on a scope.
