  • Memory man power supply

I'm trying to fix a memory man. There is no power to the circuit but there is power to the transistor in the power supply. The resistance of the zener reads 0 to ground. Is the zener my problem? Also, since I'm sure that I don't have the right value zener on hand, would it be sacrilege to replace the regulator circuit with a 7915? I have attached a schematic with voltages. Thanks for any help! memory man power supply.pdf

It would not be sacrilege and you could even add a diode into the ground terminal to get the voltage to 15.7 (if that is what it is and not 14.3). However to me it just seems an awful lot of work. Just order the zener and be done with it.

PS: I just remembered that the max input voltage for a 7915 is 35V it would not be suitable anyway.

..and invert the polarity of the zener with respect to your drawing.

I think he has it's right. It's a negative regulator...

Oh yes, you are right. Was confused by some missing minusses.
