  • J174 transistor

Was going to order J174 transistor from Mouser and they show it to be obsolete. What are you guys using a a direct replacement for the J174? Maybe the J175.

I see them around for $0.50. At least with Mouser you can be confident of the source. Y' payz y'r money and y' takes y'r chances. For a switch application it's probably not big deal.

Guess I did the search wrong...Everything I saw said obsolete. Same with digi key and Newark.

Obsolete does not always mean unavailable. Mouser may have 50,000 of an obsolete type in stock for example.

Also, sometimes the part itself is obsolete because it is the older lead-bearing version. The newer lead free type still made.
