  • AC-15 Tranny set to homebrew amp / suggest-advice?

Ok, I have the tranny set which came from my AC 15, other various tube amp items.
So far I've decided on 2x 12ax7's and 2xEL84's, no rectifier tube.
First, what type of amp is the AC15, SE or PP?
Second, does the CT secondary for B+ preclude that this amp needs to be the same type as the AC-15?
Third...opinions on whether these transformers were in already in an application which has the best balance of volume / tone...if so is it possible say to sacrifice volume in lieu of tonal improvement?
simply using the amp as it was at low volume W/Stompboxes was pretty convincing, however replacement of the OT to a MM made the cranked up amp tone...much more pallatable, ability to use tube grind [without annoying peak transient cries] improved markedly.
I have 5e3's and the AC15, something with a markedly different character this time is preferrable I think.
Is something with a class B bias possible?, I don't know, just a blind suggestion...
Any suggestions of output tube circuits which might be applicable with the AC15 irons would be helpful, or any other suggestions/comments.
    Thanks for reading! Pete.
