  • Alesis powered monitors.

Ive a pair of alesis monitors with toasted ntc thermistors.
Contacted alesis who sent me the service manual that tells you nuffink.
Anyhows, the one i can almost read is labeled 10SP UEI 005.
I have no experience of these things so any help/ advice will be gratefully received.

Where are these NTCs in the circuit? Speaker protection, or inrush limiting for the mains?

If it's the mains, you can probably get suitable parts from Farnell. They sell them by current draw, so just pick one rated for about what you expect the speaker to draw.

If they're in the speaker circuit, you probably want the exact replacements. I'd try calling Alesis UK to see if they sell the part. When I broke one of the encoders off my Ion, they sent me a replacement in about a week.

Yeah they're on the mains side to the switching power supply.
Had a look on the Farnell site last week, but got scared off by specs that I had no experience of. Havn't come across these things before.
Will contact Alesis in person and see what they say.
      Ta for that info.

Oh, so they are just inrush limiters.
