  • How to dial Weller WLC 100 soldering station to 25 or 30watts?

My Weller WLC100 has a 5 position knob and I was wondering if leaving it at position 3 will give me 25 watts to solder a new DIY guitar pedal kit? the Instruction Manual is not clear on the 5 position switch nor mentions how to dial accordingly. Anyone?

The knob controls a triac which varies the voltage to the heating element. There is no temperature sensor or regulation. I would set the knob at 4 to start. A little extra heat is better than not enough.

The manual states that at "5" the tip will draw 40 watts with a resulting tip temperature of 900 degrees F.
With the control fully counterclockwise the tip will draw 5 watts.
The tip temperature is NOT stated at 5 watts.
      Here is the schematic.
There is a temperature control feedback at the triac gate.
