  • STAX Console

The wife took me downtown to the STAX museum today for my 40th and we saw this guy, an Auditronics console #006 made here in Memphis just for STAX. Thought it was neat and thought it worth a post.

WORTH posting, lots of History resting on its shoulders.

Based on usage dates, can you guess some glorious songs recorded through it?

On the second pic around the 1970 mark you'll see Led Zeppelin 3 was recorded on this console. That's pretty impressive in itself and then you throw in James Taylor, ZZ Top, John Prine, Booker T and the MG's and the Staples Singers. I'd love to look inside that thing to see what kind of op-amps they were using.

Maybe the ones made from discrete transistors.
