  • Anyone making custom transformers anymore?

I’ve contacted Merren and Heyboer with no response. Any suggestions?

Edcor has like a thousand designs, with a bit of lead time they're quite capable and not terribly expensive.

Merren by both. Heyboer by email.

I’ve looked through Edcors catalog. Nothing I can reasonably use.

I found something from the UK. But the eBay listing is $115 shipping plus the $90+ for the transformer.
i contacted the manufacturer directly, so Il see what they say.

        i need a 6k6 p-p to 8 ohm 10W or under

6k6 push pull is something like 12kohm? Some guys on an antique radio forum suggested this one. http://www.hammondmfg.com/125a.htm

Choose your impedances, choose your power.

I found Heyboer very helpful when I've called them on the phone.

            How come?
You nominally need 12kPP 10W, these are 10k-15k (pick one) , REAL close both,10W

Ready made or a standard product if custom wound.

            Good price.

And way better than any "universal" one.

Huh?? Where did you guys come up with 12k? I want a a 6k6 (plate to plate) primary impedance, because that's what the design calls for. I'm using a pair of 5902 Beam Pentodes
I mentioned 10W and under because a 10W OT is as big as I would reasonably use for this project, which is about 3W max as it stands. I would much rather use one that's around 4-5W.
Edcor's smallest OT with the load I want is 25W I think. Way overkill.

Fahey, what would it take for you to put your transformer winding shoes back on and build me a nice quality OT for this project?

                6k6 impedance or 6K6 tube?

                Edit: Missed post above.

Ohhh. I see where we wrong here. I forgot there was a 6K6 tube and didn’t specifically mention primary impedance when i said 6k6 p-p to 8 ohm

But, it was a lowercase “k” on purpose.
Haha! I was like “ …the balls on these 2 jokers. just doubled the impedance I wanted and decided that’s what we’re going with now”

Oddly enough, the post I deleted above was assuming you wanted 6.6k ohm primary, but seemed like an easier answer. Why not just use a Blues Jr. style OT? Is "10W or under" something magical?

Well, in that case I think mercury mag has the exclusive on the magic stuff.
