2009-12 Orange OR50: US 120(110?)v Compatible via a rewire- or will I need a new transformer ?

I bought a 2009 40th Anniversary OR50, I had wanted an OR50 from their new production. I asked the seller if it had the voltage slider to go to 120v. He said yes, he fibbed. The sad thing about this is that I had contacted Orange to ask for a schematic and they told me that all I needed to do was just move the voltage slider.


Orange and Laney both are really skiddish about giving out schematics, so if I had the schematic I could likely tell if it can be rewired to 110v-120v US power. It has spent all its life in the UK. I happened to talk to a mechanic and he had an OR50. So I bought it. I asked about the voltage, got it here, and aww crap, go to slide the voltage controller and the only options are 240v and 250v.


There is nothing special about my 40th Anniversary OR50 other than it is an OR50 and it is made in the UK. They just made a run of more "40th Anniversary" after the "Girl Names" 40th sold out so quickly.

Also, the site has a sticky that says to include my location as a forum member might be nearby or know a tech nearby. Ok: I live in a little place called Murphy NC 28906- 2hr to Asheville, 2hr to Chattanooga, 2hr to Atlanta. John McNeece in Athens is going to do a repair on my ORST but I don't think he repairs PCB amps like my OR50. If anyone knows of other techs in N. GA, W. NC, or E. TN please let me know.

Are there any part numbers on the PT itself? We may be able to find a transformer datasheet.

Guys I am going to open it up and get the transformer part numbers. I have been slammed at my "paying job". I apologize for not replying sooner.

I have had no luck with the Orange Home Office in GA getting any reference to a repair facility. John McNeece is about 3hrs away and I am taking my ORST to him to get rid of the Bulgin "pignose" power cable.

I don't remember where I got it from, so use it at your own risk. Orange support is definitely not the best I saw.
