  • Ampeg Venture V3 Intermittent squeal-noise - Pot issue

    Hello folks,
Discovered that these little SMPS DClass Ampegs have an issue with their pots. It's the 3 legged ones, not the multiple stacked green square ones.
If you push-pull on the pots, you can hear the connections making static sounds or the effect stops working. This one all 4 3 legged pots were intermittent. If you remove the shaft nut & wiggle the pot, it's more evident. With the front preamp assy removed, it is also evident by bending the board.
Anyway, it's the classic loose rivet connections between the leads and the pots resistive trace. As before, you can either replace the pots or remove them and slightly pinch the rivets with a small pair of dikes.
This is a clad-thru pcb, so you'll need to use some Chipquik to safely get the pots out of there.
The pots are like a very tiny version of the typical Alpha pots. I only attempted to repair the pots as the amp had just been sold & the owner did not have another one to give the cust.
Just another entry for anyone who may experience this issue.
