  • SWR Henry the 8x8 Celestion

    Say folks,
Does anyone know of a suitable replacement for the Celestion BG8-60 8" 32ohm speakers in this cab? I'm coming up at a loss because of the 32ohm requirement. Perhaps I'll look to Speakerreconing.com and see if they can re-cone them.
    Thanx, Glen

I guess you just need to do some but not all of them?

Yes, the cones on the 2 woofers are actually blown out with the cone torn completely around the surround! The other speaks test just fine. They must have been blasting the thing to the max.

Speaker Exchange has cone kits listed so I don't think you will have any problem getting them reconed.

            Thanx guys.
Nashville Reconing cheaper than Speaker Exhange by quite a bit. So they'll probably get the job.

If you can recone them to original specs, way to go.

If not possible, a kludge that works is to replace 2 parallel 32 ohm speakers by same type of similar 8 ohm ones in series.

That "string" will still have required 16 ohm and do it's job in the cabinet.

I have done that a lot in 8 x 10" cabinets when parts have to be shipped from USA which at least takes a Month and Customs trouble.

                Great idea, JM.
I'll have to determine how the speaks are wired.
