  • Sticky glue?

I am looking for recommendations for an adhesive that never cures and remains a little sticky. Occasionally I will come across push-on knobs that don't stay put. It would be nice to use a tiny amount of something to help hold them on but not permanently glue them.

    What do you recommend?

Little bits of double sided tape might do the trick.

      Yes.
In fact a small shim cut from plane paper is often all it takes. The friction does the job without the need for adhesive.

As a side note, it's a pissed off experience to receive those amps with knobs that have been super glued in place.

I often use masking tape on the pot shaft just so it stays in place.

I wasn't familiar with that product so I looked it up.
Thanks. It appears that it would be a useful product to have around for various purposes.

a ball of this (or the blue version) is also useful for holding odd shaped parts (like pots) for soldering

Ha! Indeed. I had a 32 channel Mackie console come into the shop once that had every single knob superglued on. For those who haven't worked on one, in order to fix almost ANYTHING, you have to remove all the knobs. It was nearly impossible to remove many of the knobs without the pot shafts coming out with the knob. I told the customer that I'd fix the thing, but he'd have to pay to replace any pots that were broken in the disassembly process. He picked it up unrepaired.

Small piece of plastic bag folded over the shaft held on by the knob . Still loose ? 2 layers . If you need glue rubber cement will never hold but so good.
