I bought this tester because I wanted to test voltage and wiring at the same time.
Unlike regular 3-light outlet testers there is no more trying to interpret what the lights mean. This test tells you right away. It will also tell you if there is an open neutral and ground meaning the outlet is still energized. A 3-light tester will not tell you that.
Another advantage over the 3-light tester is it can store the reading for a few seconds. Let's say you need to test an outlet but can't see the face of the tester. Just pull the tester out and it will still give you the reading.
Yet another cool feature is that it will tell you how fast the GFCI tripped.
But the best feature is the price.......$20!
