  • Polarizing film saves lives.

    Equipment lives that is!

I have a couple of Fluke 77 multimeters with terribly faded screens. They were destined to the Great Amp Repair Lab in the Sky (the trash bin). I tried to find a replacement LCD screen but those are impossible to find. I heard about this trick where you put polarizing film on the LCD.

    Well here are the results.

Thanks for this very useful post.
I get lots of hits when I Google "Polarizing Film." Are all the offerings pretty much the same or did you run across info recommending certain products?

The video I saw recommended adhesive backed polarizing film. I bought two about 8x11 sheets on Amazon for about $15. They came the next day. I don't think the adhesive worked but since the sheet was "captured" by the gray plastic cover it did not matter. I did find that cutting the sheet diagonally to sheet works best. That is why there are small triangle pieces in one of my pictures.
