  • Newcomb AV 750 conversion project

    Hello everyone,

I recently acquired a 1960s newcomb AV 750 am fm radio. I am pretty new to electronics but would like to try converting it to a guitar amp. Just for fun I would like to try to keep the FM radio and just replace the AM signal with a guitar input. Is this possible/reasonable or am I biting off more than I can chew. Any tips or recommended resources would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a picture of the schematic.

That will certainly be an extensive project.
The final AM signal goes through an IF transformer.
If you remove this and install a coupling capacitor you may be able to use that tube for an input.

Cut the line feeding the input .02uF capacitor and insert a switching jack there.

      * no guitar plugged, radio works as before.

      * Guitar plugged in: it goes straight to audio pre/power amp and cuts everything else.
