If you know anyone who works in IT on the systems side, there are often surplus servers and racks just taking up space since everything has moved to the cloud. Sometimes you can get paid to haul it away.
NEW stuff has a price bottom which is all that metal, precision cutting/punching/bending so they start expensive, add up all markus.
Chinese will do that for cheap (not "free") but racks enclosures are BULKY by definition.
A empty 2U rack takes up the same space (inside a shipping container) as 40 cellphones.
Now USED stuff is close to "junk" (commercially), itīs paid cents by the pound by commercial recyclers.
Only problem is finding somebody needing to empty a warehouse.
