    trouble with 200

It had smoke coming from the output board, which ended up being the +8V regulator transistors. Something touched something while my tech was working on it.
Sure, with the schematic, they are easy. Without, they are a confused mess. (Four transistors for an 8V regulator... who would have guessed it?)

Original problem was a distorted output.

      OK< I have the 105 preamp, the 703 PA/Vreg

No PC803 reverb. I do have the PC303 preamp with reverb and trem-vib
Do you have them for the PC102 preamp board? I have a k200b4 that is putting out pure white noise and I have tracked it back to this board. The PA board is fine.

The oldest I have is PC103. Let me know if you think that will work and I'll scan a copy.

I realize this is a very old thread. I am unable to find schematics for the Kustom K200B-2 amp. Mine was working great. I had an rca jack plugged into the port on the back and into a mixer input. When removing the rca plug from the Kustom K200B-2 amp to relocate equipment there appeared to be a spark for some reason. The amp has not worked correct since then. It turns on, lights up, but has very low volume and distorted sound on channel 1 with no sound on the 2nd channel. I am hoping someone can send this to me and help me to diagnose the issues going on. I am not much into electronics, but do know how to use a multi-meter and read it. Any help appreciated.

                    Welcome to VintageKustom.Com!

"I had an rca jack plugged into the port on the back and into a mixer input"

Not too sure what the RCA plug is about.

There are three 1/4" jacks on the rear panel.
The two together are parallel speaker out jacks. (full power 100 watts rms)

The other jack is for the Reverb footswitch.

If you had the 'speaker out' going to mixer input , you probably blew up the Kustom output section.

The RCA Phono jack on the back panel of the Kustom K200B-2 is the "Monitor" output. The connector is not labeled on the amps I have seen. If you saw a spark when unplugging the connector then possibly you had an issue between the Kustom and your mixer that caused a significant voltage difference between the grounds of the two pieces of equipment. May have caused damage when the ground was disconnected before the positive lead of the RCA connection as you pulled the plug. The link that Jazz posted should have schematics for your Kustom amp.

Here is the output section for the K150, showing a 'Monitor Out' jack.

Thanks guys. Yes, there is an RCA output on the back of this amp. I have seen others online with the same thing. Any idea where I would start for checking things?

I believe that the K200 series taps off the monitor out before the power amp. You can find all the schematics at the vintage Kustom site. We don't know your capabilities or test equipment capability but for troubleshooting It would be best to inject a signal at the input and trace it through the amp to find where it goes wrong. There is no specific common fault that I know about that would cause the symptoms you described. Tell us what your capabilities are and if you are comfortable working in the guts of the electronics.

PC number are always helpful, as that is what Kustom used to designate there boards.

Here is PC703, from the K200-2.
AS Tom stated, it appears that the Monitor comes off of the input to the power amp.

If there is sound from one preamp and not the other the problem might be power supply related.

I'd suggest staring a new thread in the repair section to get the help that you need.
