  • Gibson GA5 Skylark, but not the usual version

    Guys -

I have a Gibson GA5 Skylark (according to the front panel) in restoration, but it's not the usual version.

    Tube lineup is 6EU7, 6C4, 2x 6AQ5 and 6X4.

One Volume control (labeled Loudness) and one rotary power switch (2 positions). Pilot light and fuse holder complete the front panel.

I could trace it out, I suppose, but would prefer something official.

    Thanks!

    Official? That's funny.

Of all the amp makers, Gibson is by far the worst offender when it comes to amps not matching schematics. I have one model here, I forget which at the moment - a GA-somethingteen - where I have three different factory schematics, plus three different hand drawn schematics all for the same model number. And it wouldn;t surprise me to find a seventh version at some point. Happens all the time you find out your GA15 is really an EA45 or some such.

Hand drawing is really the way you are most likely to get an accurate circuit diagram. At least with old Gibsons.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

I've had many frustrations with Gibson schematics, too, but that is one that is available:
