Wow, old school solid state. They don't get any more basic than this.

      Yeah, don't ya love it?

I bought one of those when they first came out. Not bad really. Love the REAL crate cabinet.

Oh I remember the first Crate crate I ever saw. Pine boards and trash can handles. Painted.

            Thanks, loved it too.
I remember when they were a novelty, and they run those full page Guitar Player ads, showing all versions, that's to say the 60W amp, the powered extension cabinet and maybe a passive speaker cabinet, not sure about the last one.
You could build a really scary wall of sound combining them.
Does anybody hav the schematic of those?
Anyway it must have been not too different from this one.
They certainly owe a little or a lot to Peaveys of that era.

Not sure which amp you mean but there are some amp schematics at Crate's site - CR series amps being amongst them:

Goto Crate site / support / manuals / discontinued products.

Now, some of those user manual .pdf files also include schematics. There will be schematics for at least some of the G, B and CR series amps. Basically, for the oldest Crate amps.

Hey teemuk, do you know where I can get schematics for a Crate BT50 amp? Couldn't find them on the crate site. I have 2 components burnt on one of the boards and would like to find out what their values are for replacement. BTW crate does have alot of stuff there. Thanks for posting that info!!!!!!!!!!

Also..........I tried to download your book and it always stops downloading about half way through. Any help..........

Teemu's link to Crate includes the CR1, but here:

Thanks, Enzo. Although the CR-1 is listed in Crate's discontinued products section, it's just the manual, and it's the re-issue tube amp version of the CR-1. This schematic is the one I was looking for. Maybe now I can fix mine!

#1 on the list is a shorted output section.

So check Q6-Q10 for a short.

#2 on the list is a shorted bridge rectier.
This can also be checked with a DVM for shorts.

Thanks, makes sense..Do you know a way I could test them for shorts while still in the circuit. Without taking the base leg off??
