This is an old German guitar amp. A friend of mine who lived in Germany is having me give it a once over. Can't seem to find anything on the company or amps.

Hello,
I have a GA 200, but last time i used it ( a few years ago) smoke came out of it, and since then it has been waiting to be repaired.
I want to have it repaired by now (playing guitar again) so i would really be interested in any information about this amp. what speaker i have to or must not use, how i can plug a mike into it, anything, and of course any other useful information.
Thanks a lot for the pdf above.
Thanks
Stefan

it does power on, there's a little noise and the tubes light.
But i only have a speaker on its own, which is a celestion (i don't know exactly which model).
I don't know if I can use it without any other preparation. 4 ohms or 8?
That's what i did when it smoked, and i don't want to aggravate the mistake if it was one.
At the back of the amp, there are two jack plugs. one is cabinet, the other is extra-cabinet, and there's a switch 1/2 cabinet.
If I have a single speaker, I guess I have to plug it into cabinet and put the switch on 1 cabinet. (tell me if you think i'm mistaken)
thanks a lot

Yes that sounds right regarding the speaker. I would remove the chassis and visually inspect the inside, especially the power tube sockets. Are any resistor on pin 6 burnt? It's unlikely that 1 open screen resistor would kill the sound though but at least check em. Aside from that are you good with a meter? You can also try new preamp tubes. Oh and is there ANY hiss or hum from the speaker when the amp is in play mode?
