  • Triumph Leo Combo 5W

Hi everyone. I'm after a circuit diagram for this little amp, or a pointer to a website that has one. Appears to be quite a simple circuit. The site I normally use for circuit diagrams has been off line for a week or so now.
    Thanks in anticipation.

No schematic but some interesting photos of a Leo Combo and a B & N Crown which apparently is the same but different name. May be some use while you're waiting.

"a “B&N Crown”. I’ve never heard of or seen one of these things before. According to the circuit board it was British made, by a company called “Triumph Electronics”, down in Purley, Surrey."

Are you restoring or trying to clone it?

There are various models, early had an EZ80 rectifier soon replaced by SS diodes, speaker can be 8" or eliptical, some had undersized PTs and only run proper heater voltage with the vibrato tube pulled. 12AX7 cathode resistors might be 1K or 1.5K depending on amp in question.

Usually a service, replacing the power supply electrolytics & cathode bypass caps is all that's required, I use 3x47uf discrete PS caps, remove the old cap can & insert the new caps "+" into the board with no lead length, twist the "-" leads together and solder into the original ground point.

Watch for the aluminium strip that secures the board to the metal chassis, if this breaks (as they do) you will have incessant crackles & noise. Replace with some heavy guage wire & ring terminals.
