  • ElectroVoice CPS2 Power Amp Schematic Request

Does anyone have or know where I can find a schematic for the ElectroVoice CPS2 power amp? I've got one on the bench for repair...I've removed all 20 output transistors and checked every one of them. One of the complimentary pairs was shorted across all 3 pins and took out one of the dual emitter current sense resistor packs (to be expected). The pre-drivers seem to be OK but I want to see what other components are in the circuit that would be worth checking before I throw power to it.

I'll have to look in the warehouse, my old EV docs are not handy, but I have these thoughts:

HEY JON, we have a schematic request section. How am I to know what to do when you ask over here????

ANyway, have you asked EV if they would send it? Are they still part of Telex? My experience has always been that they were helpful.

I would at least change the drivers, the predrivers might be fine. And ALWAYS check for open resistors in the driver stages.

Ah I didn't notice we had a dedicated section for that, which is why I posted it in the "repair" section.

I don't think they're part of Telex anymore. Last I heard (which was very recently) apparently Bosch owns them now.

Thanks a bunch for that Steve!

The music store that this amp belongs to sent me another CPS2 as well. Same deal...found a couple shorted current drivers but nothing else appears to be blown. With the current drivers out, I ran both of them up on the bench in bridged mode with no load and a 1kHz signal at the input and get a nice healthy 70Vrms swing with .775V at the input.
