I got the board out of the Peavey Renown Solo amp, and started looking. It is slightly different from any of the ones posted so far - close in schematic and parts layout, but still slightly different. The board number is 99002146, and the schematics uploaded so far show board numbers in the 98xxxx range, so I suspect it is newer. Are there any more out there?

Peavey Renown problems

It belongs to the son of a friend of mine who uses it for his guitar. His complaint sounds like instability,
so I put it on the bench and drove it into a 4 ohm resistive load and watched it on the scope. It
would almost make rated power (22 volts RMS into 4 ohms = 122 watts) and the waveform looked clean up to
the onset of clipping, but I noticed that it could easily be brought into oscillation (2 to 4 KHz on the scope)
any time the post gains were much over halfway, even with no input. I was not totally surprised by that, since I have
fixed his other Peavey, a tube finals hybrid (forget the model) and noticed that it seemed to have way too much
gain for its own good (my design and repair experience has mostly been with high end stereo amps, like MacIntosh,
and the last thing they do is show instability - but maybe its a guitar amp thing? Allows deliberate overdrive, I suppose)

Anyway, long story short, I don't see anything obviously wrong, except a 22 ohm 2 watt resistor that is semi-cooked. I'm trying
to identify which one it is, but as I said the schematics and parts layouts are just slightly wrong, but if it is the one
I think it is, it is involved in the output transistor bias circuits, which of course could contribute to instability. (Shows as a Vishay metal film FP).

I have drawings in my file for Renown, Renown 400, Renown 112 (or 212), and there may be others.

Looking at the ORIGINAL Renown, not the Renown 400, and not the Reno 400, the board number for it is 99002147, so how close does that one come to your board?

Mine is 99002146 - that has to be closer than the 98xxx numbers I have been seeing. The exact model number is 115BW Renown serial 2A-01161780.

When you have two numbers like that, one apart, it probably is that one number is for the bare board, and the other number refers to the board stuffed and complete.
