  • Peavey Series 300 CHS power amp

Three calls to Peavey, three wrong schematics sent. this power amp uses NPN and PNP configuration. I'm really getting that "twilight zone" feeling. It's for a Mark III bass head.

It may be IN a Mark III bass head, but I have to wonder if it started life there. A MArk III should have a 400B/G or a 400BH power amp. There is a 300CH (and 300EH) power amp from 1986, though I never saw on in a Mk3 Bass myself. the 400 series were quasi so had all NPN outputs, the 300 series did have both

Is 300CHS printed outside on the rear panel? In those days the number in the power amp name was typically twice the rated power more or less. The 300CH had a 150 watt output. What power output is printed by the speaker jacks?

I note the 300CH and 300EH use the same board. The board itself, on the solder side, says just "300 C Module" and some numbers. What does yours say on the board itself. The 300EH eliminates the compressor/limiter and the separate 15v supplies for the preamp.

I myself have never heard of nor see a record of 300CHS. Of course I see new stuff every day too.

I would gather up all the information from your board, and contact Gene Ford at the factory, and tell him you need the schematic for THIS board. The boards I am looking at have 8226 and 8227 output transistors, you might include just which outputs are in yours.

    I think Gene's email is gene.ford@peavey.com

      How about 400BJ?
      Just a thought.

        Maybe, but I think 1992 is a bit late for a Mk3.

            So CH rather than CHS?
