How does one hook this up to split a humbucker?
Been looking on line for days and can't find a diagram.

    You Don't.
    That has contacts for power.
Is it a push pull or is it twist, for on and off.
You need a dpdt switch for pickups.

It's push/pull. It does do splits, as I know it came out of a Gibson and it split a 498.
I assume the two split wires go to the two lugs on the plastic case but I don't know if there's anything else to it or not.

If it is normally open when in, and closed contacts when you pull it, then that would work.
You wire it so it grounds the finish leads of the pickup.

If you are wanting to do two pickups with one switch then you will need a dpdt switch.

          Nope. Just the one pickup.

I think I got it. Ill test as soon as I get the tailpiece in place.

It is kinda moot. There are only two terminals on your switch. It is on/off. You have two wires, they have to go on those two terminals.

There are 2 contacts on the switch, but there are 4 wires on a splitable pickup.
              See the diagram.

Hmm. I hooked it up like so.

The pot works fine but the switch has no effect.

What brand of pickup is it?
That will determine what color the wires are that go to the push pull switch.

No, you should connect red AND white wire to one lug, and the other lug connects to ground

That is correct, but this depends on the brand of the pickup.
If it is a duncan that will work.
Not sure what the purpose of the 3 Way switch is if it is only a one pickup guitar?
BTW the way, that is a sharp looking guitar.

Thank you. That's what I needed.

The three way toggle is there for the future bridge pickup.

Pickup that's there now is a Duncan SM-3 firebird pickup.

If you have two Humbuckers can you just hook both up to the one post on a push pull pot like this one with only two post? A 3 way toggle would select the pups so wouldn't that work? I have this pot too and want to split both my humbuckers thats why I ask. thanks.
