Lexicon IONIX U82s USB recording interface

Someone has contacted me to take a look at this device. The USB connection randomly drops. He's changed cables + different laptop. Drivers are up-to-date. No loose USB socket and wiggling the cable doesn't cause it to connect/disconnect. Working fine with existing setup for past 3 years.

It's one of those jobs where I'd like a bit more information up-front. It looks like it could be a glorified PC sound card in a standalone box.

Anyone worked on this unit or have a schematic?

esWhat little info that I could find is from the manual.
The block diagram indicates the USB connector goi to a USB controller.
Maybe the IC datasheet would help suss it out.
