I'm trying to fix my TCT35, the Bass out of it over powers everything I play and I can't adjust it out. Not only that, but I can't get any cleans out of this amp. Digging in with a sine wave generator and a scope, I found that the first gain stage, a FET, followed by 1/2 of a 12AX7 as a cathode follower, distorts the sine wave beyond belief---like the amp "crunches" everything sent to it. Novel approach, to getting a unique "sound" but a waste of a great tube front end.

Heavy use of op amps in the signal path and two high voltage FET amps in the signal path make me wonder, why include four 12AX7's at all? When using the tubes as, for the most part, non gain stage cathode followers, instead of Class A gain Stages, is not improving the sonic qualities of the amp, as far as I can tell.

The digital reverb works well, so far...

Found my problem---the first 12AX7 preamp tube had low gain, so it made the output distort. Also, found the other three 12AX7 tubes (Sovteks) were also defective, no or low gain on my tube tester. Retubed all four and this amp is a keeper!! Fantastic lows and the overall response is fantastic!!

I misunderstood the purpose of the FET stages, now I see the purpose---a different response is not necessarily a bad thing, another vintage of wine is more like it.

Overall, this amp is being added to my herd, along with two other Albion amps, the Gulf stream 15 combo and the 30 head, both of which needed re tubing, after which, I love the sounds out of them. I used reissue Tug Sol tubes and on the 15, Mullard reissues--- Loving the Mullard sound, but Tung Sol rocks too!

Hi, I know this might be a long shot but I really need help. I have a few of Steve Grindrods Pendragon series amplifiers a PG20 and two PG40's, the pendragons are the beautiful green ones. They need repairs and I really need schematics for these amplifiers. is there anything any of you can do for me provide schematics if you have them, links the people that may have them or even a link to Steve himself to see if I can get these schematics. These amplifiers are unbelievable, I love the sound but they both need serviced and without schematics that makes it very difficult. I'm hoping you can help me in some way. Thank you in advance for your time and effort.
