Old thread I know, but I can't see a need to start another. I'm also looking for the Bose L1 Model II schematic- specifically the amp board. I have downloaded the service manual, but there is not a schematic in the SM as stated in post 1 of this thread. This is the newer SMD board, unlike the earlier version of the L1.

I just serviced one the model 2 versions and it looks daunting just getting the top part off. I didn’t have to do much in my case I got lucky and fixed the issue.
The problem was that the top lights were not working. All the volume, treble, bass & reverb encoder’s functions worked as normal but the corresponding led was not lighting up. So I removed the screws and open it up. I simply wiggled some things around and did my best to make sure the ribbon connectors were seated properly. All this was performed with just a little space to even reach into the unit and there is nothing on the net detailing how to tear it down. Well anyway I plugged it back in and Viola!! I must’ve plugged something in better cuz all the lights were working. I chopped sticked around and it didn’t want to fail. At that point I gave the unit back and told them to monitor it going forward.
If anyone knows how to get the top board out of the unit please explain how to do it. I would guess it involves the handle and popping off a cover to reveal bolts or something. Looking at it I can imagine trying stupid things to get it apart. I don’t need to open it up but if it comes back at least I’ll know how. Thanks to anyone who can help.
Edit: oh and I am with the Dude on this one about getting a schematic.
