  • Looking for a Kustom 150 scematic

i just picked up a freebie! kustom 150 2x12 tuck and roll combo. sounds great!

it's missing the reverb tank, if anyone has one or has information...please let me know!

otherwise, i'm looking for a schematic so i can make sure everything's is as it's supposed to be. the schem might give me that reverb tank info as well.
    thanks!

I love that old tuck and roll!

They used full size accutronics 4 spring tanks. All were the same number depending upon the style of the amp. Plexi front or metal front. I'm guessing yours is a 150SC? Plexi front combo w/tuck and roll.

I have the replacement tank number somewhere, I'll look for it tonight. I'll also look to see if I have the schematic.

      serial tag says it's a "K150-7".

definitely a plexi front. let me know if you find that schematic and tank info, thanks!

I have a scanned copy of the K150. Send me your email and it's yours.

With the old Kustom stuff, I always find it simplest to use the board numbers. Like PC5033 for example. That eliminates my confusion.

The correct Accutronics part number for the Kustom Plexi front reverb tanks is 4FB2A1A. If you order the more common Peavey/Ampeg replacement tank, you'll have to ground the input jack in order for it to work.

thanks for all of the replies!

to email me a schematic: methodofcontrol AT graffiti DOT net

i'll pull the chasis and get a board # ASAP just so we know all info is accurate for this particular amp.

thanks for the reverb tank info! i'll see what i can find.

i opened up the amp (i'll have pics tomorrow or the day after)
and i had a thought....where does the reverb tank go once i get it?
(antique electric has one for $23 new if i can't find one used)

it doesn't look like there is a definitive route for RCA cables to go from the bottom of the combo up inside the chasis, which makes me think that the tank just goes INSIDE the chasis...but that seems unusual. any thoughts? actually...(even better)...any facts?

If my memory is intact - ever more in doubt - isn't the chassis a large U-shape? I think the reverb pan hangs in the center of the open top area screwed to two cross braces.

Ha Ha, those old Kustoms were cool. The tone wasn't all that compared to a tube amp but you can't beat the hip factor.

Enzo remembers I'm sure, back in the stone age when we were young, around 1970, those amps were all over the place. In my first garage band the bass player had a 150 bass version with the 2 twelve cab. At the end of the seventies I played in a band where the bass player had the bigger version, (250 watts) and the dual cabs with 4 twelves in it I think. It sounded pretty good.

They WERE cool. All the other amps looked the same - black tolex and red pilot light. Here were these tuck and roll upholstered things with the purple pilot light. Very cool.

the chasis is a U shape. the front bends into the bottom and bend into the back. there are no sides or top on it. there are two cross bars riveted on top connecting the front and back. there are screw holes along the top lips of the chasis, is that where the reverb tank would be secured?

                        here's some pics:

                          Kustom

Let's not forget that John Fogerty used em when he was with CCR back in the day, so they can't sound all that bad. Recently read an article in GP I think in which he talks about using them.

Yes, there would have been two more crossbraces, with the reverb pan bolted to them.

right on enzo! thanks for the info!
i think i should be able to fabricate something in place of the missing cross beams once i have a tank in hand.
...unless anyone knows of a place i can get ACTUAL Kustom cross beams?
