Check the tank first. Depending upon the model and year, it could be a 8 ohm input or a mid-impedance input tank. I've also seen a lot of problems with the molded RCA plugs on the wires to the tank.
The reverb also switches to the different channels on the back. I've seen those switches cause problems as well.

If the back plate is missing, there really is only one difference in the reverb circuits in all of the model that I have seen, and this is true of all of the amps that share the similar pre-amps-Viscount, Buckingham, Royal Guardsman and Beatle; one has a transformer driven reverb tank and the other has a transistor amp driven reverb tank. This is why there are two versions of reverb tanks in these amps, one has an 8 ohm input and the other a mid impedence input.
Is the reverb completely dead? If you jiggle the tank can you hear the springs boinging through the speakers? Is it dead through both channels or does it work in one of the two?
If the tank has been replaced, is the input RCA jack ground isolated or not? These amps need the input jack to be grounded, as the drive wire is not a two conductor wire.

Thank you in advance.
In the schematic there should be a listing of each type and where they are used.
ps: big fan of your work Jimmy

If I remember correctly, all of the transistors with the exception of the reverb tank driver and the phase inverter transformer driver in the power amp can be replaced by any low noise NPN small signal transistor with gain over about 200.
My favorite NPN, the 2N5088, can be used for essentially all of them, as can most other NPN low noise devices. The only uniqueness is where there is too much power or current for these small devices to handle.
See "Bulletproofing your Thomas Vox Amp on my web site for more practical service info, especially discussions on replacing the output transistors.Amazing!! Who would ever have guessed that someone who villified the evil rich people would begin happily accepting their millions in speaking fees!
Oh, wait! That sounds familiar, somehow.

Hi Jimmy, welcome to the forum. RG actually knows quite a lot about these amps, you might consider his suggestion.
CHanging transistors is not like changing a 12AX7 for a 12AT7 or something. Transistors are remarkable flexible.
Not sure where you will find those 2N2926s. I checked Mouser/Allied/Digikey, and others and closest I came was Mouser suggesting a BC184L as a cross.
From the original parts list, there are these numbers - Vox part numbers.
In the 100 section, all transistors are 86-5044-2
In the 200 section, most are 86-5044-2, except these:
Q201 86-5050-2
Q202 86-5075-2
Q211 86-5064-2
In the 300 section (power amp):
86-5084-2 output transistors
86-5085-2 driver
86-5050-2 input transistor.
perhaps that will help
If you know anyone who services organs, see if they have a "HAB" guide. Thomas used the same part numbers in their organs, so they might be able to look up the crosses in that.Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

This post about a vox waa may help.
http://www.freestompboxes.org/viewto...d=a&hilit=5117
eg 86-5044-2 ORDER 71226-015, TRANSISTOR, NPN 2N2925
well a few clues
