  • Gateway GMAX 5100 5.1 speakers

Alas the magic smoke has left my old faithful pc speakers. The subwoofer is shot and I can see some toasty resistors near the output transistors for the subwoofer.

The pcb was made for Gateway by Diamond Audio Technology. Anybody got a schematic?

    Thanks.

Magic smoke did not appear for no reason.
It may be the right (and cheapest) solution to seek qualified service nearby.

If the great VK can't come up with a schematic I suppose I'll just have to trace out the subwoofer part of the schematic myself. It is interesting how it has a chipamp in front of the power transistors for the subwoofer.

If you find schematic please share it with us.
When magic smoke occurs it is usually caused by some large consumer, in your case power transistor, driver transistor or IC ...
If you see any burnt component, it is a sign where look for a fault.
To get into the problem, take a look at how PC speakers were designed by KYE.
In chapter 1 gives troubleshooting diagram, how to fix the defect.

Here as an (obsolete) datasheet of the LM4651 chip amp driving mosfets.
Maybe it is similar enough to suss out what is what.
