  • Holmes MP3R schematic request

    Hello everyone.

Like the title says, looking for a schem for the Holmes MP3R guitar amp I recently acquired.

I did a quick search, not much comes up.
    Any other info also appreciated..

If no schematic to be found I will probably trace this one.

I don't really "need" the schem, but I'm curious.....

Next will be getting rid of the 2 wire power cord, line reverse switch and death cap.

I have tried it out and first impression it sounds really good.
Surprisingly good distortion/crunch sound and decent cleans.
Reverb is meh, curious to see what's in that tiny reverb tank bag.

    Cheers!
If it ain't broke I'll fix it until it is...
I have just enough knowledge to be dangerous...

Huh, well... I found a little info, seems Mr Holmes still has a website and some parts...

      Hi,
I just acquired an MP3R myself and I’m curious as to what you have found out on them.

Unfortunately it looks like the site linked above is defunct at this date. galaxiex is a long time and currently active member so hopefully sees this and has something to report. This may need to happen on the thread for now because I believe there's a time lag for new memberships to use private messaging.

Yep, still here, tho I don't post much these days but still check in from time to time.
Had a heart attack back in October plus complications.....

Should have been a simple in-out stent procedure that turned into 3 and a half weeks in the hospital.
Almost died 3 times from said complications.

If I hadn't been in the hospital when those complications happened....
I wouldn't be here typing this right now.

Happily and luckily the hospital I was in has an awesome cardiac ICU. Top notch care.
            I'm very grateful.

Re this amp, I didn't do much with it.
Took it apart and cleaned it up some.
Replaced most, maybe all? electrolytic caps and did the 3 prong plug as mentioned above, it's working and sounding great.
I have the same schematics that are posted above.
Never bothered to trace and draw out the circuit since finding those schems.

            Cheers!

As it happens all of us here on the forum benefit I'd seen you post recently. Ergo my post above. We're all super glad things worked out the way they did

Sounds like your power transformer took a good hit. Rest up and get back to working as much as possible. I always enjoy your posts and documentation. Best regards.
