  • Peavey Special (first gen)

Anyone have a schematic for the original 81' Peavey Special ? (The Special 130 predecessor) I know the 130 is about the same but someone has been into the chassis tinkering with the tone stack....which is different from the 130. Ive reached out to Peavey but figured I'd post in the mean time. I want to go over the entire circuit board...Can't seem to find a schematic...Enzo, maybe ?

Maybe an oversimplification, but I always thought Specials are just Bandits with twice as much output power. Have you looked for the first gen Bandit schematic? I've never worked on anything earlier than a Bandit 65/Special 130 (both still favorite amps, though).

Unfortunately Enzo recently passed away. In addition to his other great quallities I always appreciated that he loved Peavey as much as I do.

They are basically a Bandit, I've seen the Bandit schematic and have worked on them. The problem is, it looks as if someone tried to change the mid control to the shift type, like later 130's. I don't know what the original tone stack looks like now. For all I know it could
be like the Bandit's. Just trying to put everything back as it was originally. People do crazy things

Is the mid control not working correctly? I guess I would say that the Bandit/Special circuit has endured for a long time, but no one seems to pine for the first gen, most think of the 65/130s as the "original." If they changed the mid control maybe there is a reason.

Wow I posted before I read everything....I didn't know he passed....that is truly devastating. What a loss that is....I didn't know him personally but he was a wealth of Peavey knowledge. My condolences

No it's not working right, it is a real butcher job. I may just imitate the Bandit stack. Yeah, no one pines for them lol, there's not many around... I picked it up at a flea market for $20

I have a schematic for the Peavey Special 112, dated 10/11/1989. Is this what you are looking for?

I have one here labeled 2/89. Maybe it'll work if Tom's doesn't fit?

The 89' is later but thanks for those, I might can use them later. I contacted Roger at Peavey by phone and he was able to get the exact one. Thanks for everyone's help

Peavey are unjustly despised (same with Crate) but truth is they are strong workhorses, last forever and actually can sound GOOD.

I had to pickup a super reverb a trucker said it bounced around his truck and sheared off a pot. Told him if he had a Peavey probably wouldn't have happened especially one of the 70s early 80s models.

Or old Traynor, but you might have to replace some of the tubes.
