the screws are for height adjustment. But do not lower the poles to where there is no spring tension.

I don't find baseplates have the same effects as covers do. Although brass is more conducive to eddy currents, as a baseplate it is exposed to much less of...

It's much easier to get some standard nylon bushings. Already drilled. Availiable at Lowes or Ace....

If I'm not mistaken it's a standard 8 lug design. The ceter lug on either side should only connect to 3 of the outer lugs.

I have done something very similar. The main issue encountered was a serious loss of volume. I'm guessing because the signals were electrically out of phase...

Well then, I disagree.
Since the cap is always wired in series (actually it can be wired in parallel, but not common) it is always "there"....

It's right there. I don't know if it was obviously stated earlier on in the discussion.
No, not a 1Meg pot. Fender started the "no-load"...

Looks to me like a special pickup using the "wide range" as the basis.
I don't think the CuNiF magnets in the wide range would do very well...

I think some of the arguing here is based upon a misunderstanding.
Mike Sulzer is talking about a RC tone circuit using a "NO-LOAD"...

That should work fine, but a bit more difficult to acomplish.
The size and length of the piece(s) of metal used will affect the resulting field as...

A. It might sound the same, but not because of just the magnets.
B. I agree, Leo used what he could get....But there WAS a design "standard"...

Really nice work.
I've done a lot of Paper Bobbin/Bobbinless restorations and I think it's a PITA. I don't think I'd want to do many of these regularly....

I've never seen any, although they could be obtained (custom ordered).
I think this is because C-8 is the common choice for most applications.

I don't see the problem being with "magnetism" as such, but with the resulting field's shape.
You will have to create a method to...

Once upon a time I was curious about this so I did some testing.
Here are the results

I have, might still have the diagram for it...It was a airly involved circuit with buffer and zeroing etc. I still have many of the parts to make it "neat"....

To harden steel heat it until it is orange and no longer magnetic. Then plunge it into whatever cooling method is best for that steel (oil, water, room tremperature...

Of course you can as long as each "grouping" is in something of a "loop" and not directly opposing another grouping. "Close proximity"...

Never had a problem with it. I have them near my winder during assembly and I use a battery driver during assembly, but that's about it for being around motorized...

Some of the cheaper ones where they used solid ceramic bars underneath were a little shorter (I believe) to make some room for the height of the magnets....

That was me anyways. It's information I got from the consultants at a magnet manufacturer. You can degauss alnico with a ceramic, you can even charge alnico...
