A single coil has one coil. Any "noiseless" pickup is going to have a dummy coil. There's no escaping it.

I always use an alligator clip attached to the lead of any cap I'm soldering - acts as a heat sink. I've burned my fingers a few times taking the clips off...

For Tweed amps, I'm sold on the Emi Legend 1028K or the Fender Blue Alnico, also made by Emi.
They're not as good as the old Legend 102ps...
