Can anybody tell me what kind of amplifier this is? Vintage tube amp.

Can anybody give me any information on this amplifier? I know nothing about the brand and all I have is model # SA I56 and serial # 4363. Vintage tube amp.
features: 2 channel (2 inputs per channel), 1 channel has an 'ultra high' knob, the other channel has an 'ultra bass' knob. both channels have vol / bass / treble /mid range knobs. There's also 2 speaker input channels... Is this a guitar amp / bass amp / old PA amplifier??? Any information will be greatly appreciated! thanks..

I bet the name is under the sticker, warm with hairdrier and carefully peel off!

I believe Magnatones had "anti hum" switches, so maybe its one? Not sure they made many heads though...

Nope, nothing underneath the sticker... I even took off the back panel to see if I could find any #s or logos, nothing. It's quite a mystery!

It looks like a Univox to me. It might have been sold under a different name, but try looking at the Univox sites for similar amps.

That's the amp... It has the anti-hum switch and both 'ultra' knobs. I'm doing some searches now for the manufacture date.. Thanks!

Jess Oliver was a kind man and a legendary amp designer.. Unfortunately, he passed last year. There is an obituary notice for him in the Sunn forum.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jes Oliver in his home workshop--he did some work for me on an Echojet that I had for a while. He was indeed a kind man, at least as far as I experienced. I missed the notice of his passing, but recently noticed a posting about someone selling off the contents of his workshop. If I were still on Long Island I'd go have a look-see. He had a lot of cool stuff down there, not just Ampegs but lots of other amps and vintage keyboards--including, I imagine, the Traynor rotary speaker cab that I brought him a long time ago and never decided to fix or picked up. :/ Anyway, RIP Jes.

Wow, If I had the $$ and resources I'd love to see what he's had. I heard he was a great guy and a real tech nut! that's awesome... It's cool to know that this amp, which I've had for over 13 years, was made by the brains behind Ampeg! That explains why it sounds so damn good!
