I like the prices. I can get along with any speaker pretty much........as long as it will take the punishment

      3/4 back on Twin cab?

As long as we're discussing speakers JM mentioned putting a 3/4 cover over an open back cab. What will be the sonic effect of a 3/4 cover on the bottom side of my Fender Twin cab? It arrived to me with no covers so nothing lost by changing. I kinda like sealed back tone a bit better than open

Way better to give it a go yourself, but my take is that the mids become more focussed, like a closed back cab, but without the solid bass thump.

I'm sure you'll notice an increase in bass with the back covered - but you can't seal up a Twin, gotta leave some breathing room for the tubes and a little gap somewhere so you can get the AC cable. One of my customers covered up the back of his Super Reverb at my suggestion, got very happy with that. "You're a genius" he told me. "No, YOU'RE the genius because I gave this advice a thousand times and you're the only one who followed through on it."

          ---------------------------

For those looking for some boot in the bass, one of my customers put a Scumback 65W into his Hot Rod Deluxe. Holey wow, everything started shakin'. Speaker has a noticeable resonance 75 Hz, had to tighten everything down in that cab plus a wood shim crammed under the OT to stop the metal in the middle of the chassis from singing along. I even shaved a good bit of bass by reducing the cap at power amp entry point to 680pF, quite a ways from the original figure. Still plenty of nice warm tone plus some very interesting and ear-friendly overtones when driven hard. This was my first run-in with a Scumback, and I'm impressed.
This isn't the future I signed up for.
