After exhausting my supply of contact cleaner on my last 'repair' my friend bought me 3 cans of "contact cleaner with silicone" - I always used the "no silicone" stuff - any thoughts?

I wouldn't use it on potentiometers as it will dissolve the lubricant of the shaft.
Switches & jacks should be o/k.

I can get the MG stuff locally for $8 a can - but I'm confused when you say "I wouldn't use it on pots" - deconfuseme please...I'm not old - I'm vintage

A can of Deoxit spray lasts me a long time, and that is in a commercial shop.
You need not hose down the controls, just a tiny squirt is all you need.Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
