Ok..I installed a new TR5 BC184 and IC10 PIC16F57. Still no sounds. I then removed the new TR5. Just like before...with the TR5 out, the voltage at it's base hole is 4.37v with the speaker plugged in. 0 with the speaker unplugged. With the speaker in, the 4.37v stays the same whether the STAND-BY switch is on or off.

Is 4.37v enough to run the TR5? I can see the test wave at the ecc83 as before.

Where did you obtain a replacement PIC16F57?

They have to have a program installed.

As such ,when purchased from a vendor, they are 'blank'.

(: I feel like silly man now! I bought these from Amazon/Data Alchemy. (The 1st ones I got from Mouser but I made a mistake and ordered the wrong case style)
How do I buy already programmed PIC16F57s? I'm not totally sure that the PIC is the problem but since they aren't terrible expensive, I would try a new programmed one. But we have no formal relationship with Blackstar.

Your only practical recourse it to get one from Blackstar. I bet it won't be so cheap, especially with shipping. So, best to eliminate all other causes first.
Experience is something you get, just after you really needed it.
