      Looks like some secret code.

        I'm guessing it means - "I have a schematic for a 1940s tube intercom. A 16-16u 150V capacitor was $1.75, today it's $20.99. A 5 inch permanent magnet speaker was $5.10 today it's $61.18 ! The output transformer was $1.40, today it's $16.79"

Thanks for translation. Units always help.
So the schematic would have contained a component price list?

A lot of the older stuff was like that. Prices and parts lists were with the schematic, you could order the parts direct from the manufacturer.
People fixed stuff instead of throwing it away.

Sorry , I forgot to say it lists part prices . The 1940's prices are out of line with today's prices . Speaker and cap high , OT low .

IMO, a lot of recent price increase are due to hoarders. It's similar to the toilet paper shortage during covid. Someone says there might be a TP shortage and people start buying up all they can get. It's sort of a self fulfilling prophecy. I was talking to the manager of the local GC here in town and he told me that people are ordering insane numbers of tubes. One guy tried to place a $40K tube order. I think a lot of the tube shortage and price hikes are due to these kind of people.

I agree. It's called profiteering. That $40 grand guy oughta be buying Twitter stock & Bitcoin. Doesn't take any storage space for those, and he can bail out with the touch of a button when he sees his investments tank.

This isn't the future I signed up for.

My hope is that the price goes back down and the tube hoarders lose there asses.
