    axpro,

I totally agree with you on the cost/value thing, and I wasn't saying that you personally were ragging on Weber. Some people on other forums, and apparently through email are really unhappy about this whole thing, but Weber didn't know these caps were basically fraudulently labeled. They're trying to deal with it the best they can.

Well, there may be some truth in that, but where musical instrument gear is concerned, don't forget the "Rose-tinted dumpster" effect.

In other words, guitar and amp makers have always turned out cheap junk for cost-conscious buyers, but nobody keeps that stuff. They throw it away because it breaks and the repair bill is more than the unit is worth, or because they get frustrated with it being unplayable, or whatever.

Only the premium quality stuff stands the test of time, and that's why we get this impression of "they don't make 'em like they used to", even as we're standing on top of strata of mouldering Kays, Danelectros and Silvertones. Wait another 50 years and all those Valve Jrs and Indonesian Jacksons will be in the landfill too.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"

Hmmmm, Kays, Dano's and Silvertones are greatly loved by many and are collectible, drawing pretty good money for the originals, enough so that Kay just came back out with a line of reissue guitars.

I love those old Dano/Silverton amps. Alamo is another one, love that stuff. Cheaply made I suppose, but a very cool alternative to the more common Fender vintage stuff. I think those Valve Jr's will be around for a long time to come.
