    I think they are also 2 x 6v6
Not so good for clean headroom, although other Magnatones can be. The other issues are that you can buy a real one a heck of a lot cheaper than you can build a clone, and it is not easy to get your hands on suitable varistors. Plus, they were point to point with no board and there are no layout diagrams I am aware of so it would not be a good beginner type project. If you don't have one to copy, I think it would be one of the more expert builds you could attempt.

I was thinking about building a lite version without the trem, and them could call it a Maglite ... who needs a clean amp anyway

Ok so i've taken some time off and have decided to come back to this idea. I have found something I think might be interesting over at the ax84 forum but have had no answers over there. Hopefully you guys can weigh in. The amp is called the California Dreamer Lite. It uses a 12ax7 to drive a TMB tone stack and a 12at7 as a LTPI into a pair of fixed bias 6v6's.

Here is a schematic I've whipped up that should explain things. I have the PT and OT and can get my hands on a choke pretty easy. The rectifier should be a 5y3 and the filter section is a can cap 40x20x20x20.

Let me know what you guys think
