Well , I learned something about zeners today . I got them from Mouser and that is the exact data sheet for them . I got 2W because I got 10 of them thinking if I need them once I'll need them again . Being a little large for clippers I thought I would probably use them in power supplies so 2W . Would a .5 W part work better or is it just the DC thing ? The voltage at the screens were 122V idle and 105V at onset of clipping with HT1 at 154V . Thats going through the 5k6 and the 1k individual resisters . I went back and checked the PI today and it puts out 22V clean into 470k grid returns . At some point it wont put out any more power with these transformers . HT1 has already gone from 160V to 154V . I don't know if were there yet , but the important thing is not getting max power but learning how to design a power amp .

With your voltages I see no benefit from using a zener.
I would stick with the 5.6K, which also gives better ripple filtering than the zener.
