thanks for that, I think I might be leaning away from pine now. I can pretty much have access to most woods there are. I know I have some cherry somewhere in the shop. Is cherry a good wood for this? I dont really know what the best hardwoods are for cabinets and im finding it hard to find a genuine answer. I want something good and not too expensive. I want to stain the wood and not have to use tolex so the wood can breath, so plywood is out of the question.

I seem to remember seeing a report (from Bruce at Mission amps?), in which the same (untolexed) cab design was made in various wood types (pine, cherry etc). Pine came out tops for tone. Pete.My band:- http://www.youtube.com/user/RedwingBand

Love the cane grilles. I started doing cane in '98 and found that a light coat of Bulleyes Amber Schellac 50/50 Alchohol. It seals the cane somewhat from dust(dirt) and gives it a cool "petina". I just redid my Walnut Tweed Bassman grille recently onto a seperate grille board. Mine always stay as tight as a drum head.
NICE JOB on the whole thing!DIY Links
