thanks for that, I think I might be leaning away from pine now. I can pretty much have access to most woods there are. I know I have some cherry somewhere in the shop. Is cherry a good wood for this? I dont really know what the best hardwoods are for cabinets and im finding it hard to find a genuine answer. I want something good and not too expensive. I want to stain the wood and not have to use tolex so the wood can breath, so plywood is out of the question.
    Happiness. Only real when shared.

I seem to remember seeing a report (from Bruce at Mission amps?), in which the same (untolexed) cab design was made in various wood types (pine, cherry etc). Pine came out tops for tone. Pete.

Love the cane grilles. I started doing cane in '98 and found that a light coat of Bulleyes Amber Schellac 50/50 Alchohol. It seals the cane somewhat from dust(dirt) and gives it a cool "petina". I just redid my Walnut Tweed Bassman grille recently onto a seperate grille board. Mine always stay as tight as a drum head.

NICE JOB on the whole thing!
