I'm hearing the Deluxe actually came with a Straight cone from Fender.

    Is this true ??

Early models came with a straight one piece cone, late '50 versions with a straight seam ribbed cone, early '60 models with a curved seam ribbed cone.

My 59 original cone was seamed, this pair of dated 63 ex Hammond Pull
        are Straight cone.

I'll bang one in tonight, I'm looking for a clean tone at low volume and hopefully some nice early crunch at medium vol. as per Neil Young.

        Thanks

Hammond used different models, usually with a combination of straight and ribbed cones in the same enclosure.

As you already know, a P12R won't last very long in a 5E3, you should consider either a P12Q, a P12P (my fave in this amp) or a P12N.

Neil uses C12N's driven by 6L6's.

            P12R

I only use the amp in my small home studio for practice and recording.

The original P12R must of had an easy life to last so long..
Soon as I introduced it to my Les Paul with a P90 and Fire Bird in the trunk it was history.

It was awesome just before it died though
Thanks for the Neil info, I heard he used the Weber for a while too.
