  • Viper20A IC in XP510i Samson

This Viper20A chip (DIP) in the SMPS is obsolete. Has anyone used Viper53EDIP-E as a sub.? schematic and data sheets attached.
Power light is pulsing and supply making clicking noise. When I hit the Viper chip with freeze spray it starts working normally and power amp works.

Another question about this mixer, main fan is very loud, it's a 12V fan running at 9V, I guess the fan is just bad?

It looks to me like the two chips have different pinouts.

FWIW: I did find a Dalbani "pull" on eBay. I've had good luck with them. They are original parts and tested. Not sure what it would cost to ship to Canada.

Well then, so much for 'substitute' suggestions from digikey.

I saw the Digikey suggestion, too. I'd have to look again, but I think the SMD versions are different pinouts than the through hole versions. Maybe that's the confusion. I saw that on the through hole versions one had supply on pin 2 and the other on 7 (among other discrepancies).

            The SMD doesn't match either.
The Dalbani part would be pretty much same for shipping as part price, so I will check if available from Samson dist. first.

IC no longer available via Samson, same for fan.
Audiolabga has the IC, hopefully they will have a fan that fits as well.
