Guys,
I have a late '60s Ampeg B12XT, which I have been repairing for a friend.
I have replaced caps and brought the voltages all down within about 10VDC of where they are spec'd. (with 125 at the wall)
I also installed a new tremolo unit VM1-R from Fliptops.
The amp is quite, and all effects work...it sounds great except:
The echo control adds a motorboating effect. (Put.Put.Put...ect)
As you turn up the intensity control it gets louder.
Is this the bypass cap on the verb drive/receive?
What causes this?
With the Echo (reverb) turned off, the amp plays and sounds great. Tremolo sounds great, when no reverb is being added. All effects work well, you just have to ignore the motorboating on the echo control.
