Okay, I see. I have just never seen the PNP version of the sziklai pair. BTW I have Self's book on order.

TIP41/42 are great transistors for stock, you can use them so many places. I also keep the MJE1503x for when I need some higher voltage capability.

I have an old yamaha hundred 212(first series 1977ish) that needs new power transistors, it has 1 x 2sd425 and 1 x mj15015. The replacements would have to TO-3's because the whole output circuit board is encased inside the heatsink. So what would be my best choice for replacements?

        thanks
        J.

          Hi Jimmy
May I point out this is a thread about a Roland JC120, and has been dead for seven years. I think you would get a better response for questions about a Yamaha G100 if you start a new thread for it. The two amps are not remotely similar.

The MJ15015 is probably OK to use, but is not at all original. I don't think the D425 is original either.

A pair of MJ15015 sounds OK,and Mouser has them in stock for under $6 each.
